Types of Resistor

A resistor is an electronic component that impedes the flow of current in a circuit. there are three types of resistors: fixed, variable, and wire-wound. The type of resistor depends on the desired use for it; for example, if you want to make sure your project will generate a specific voltage or current level, you should use a fixed resistor. If you need more flexibility with how much power your project uses then a variable resistor would be best and wire-wounds are great when designing high-frequency circuits. There also exist resistors that combine two or more functions such as PTCs which can act as both resisters and fuses.
